The Burrower-Titans of Lithid

“Archeo-magi have debated for millennia on the origins of “the Burrowers of Lithid”. ‘Are they bio-golems?’, some scholars cry. ‘Osseo-constructs!’ others proclaim, or ‘blood mages suffering a curse!’ from the fringe academics. Whatever their origins, these quadrupedal Cyclopean titans make their way across The southern dead continent of Lithid unimpeded by curiosity or time.
Cold, dead Lithid. Nothing grows here, no springs bubbling up, no towns dot the barren landscape, just sandstorms, fractured light, and frigid temperatures.
The burrowers follow no discernible path, stopping seemingly at random to thrust their lower drill-proboscis deep into the dead soil, then moving on with their siblings. The holes they leave seem to plunge into the crust of Iaia, dark holes that never seem to close, even with eons of wind erosion. Massive glowing sigils float above the prows of the Burrowers, each titan bearinf a unique symbol that does not match any known Arkana or cantrip.
Did these creatures cause the decimation of Lithid, or are they saviours hunting for a cure to the curse of the dead continent?
Maybe one day a particularly brave adventurer will discover the truth. Until then, these silent giants will continue their unknowable path across a silent world, bathed in the light of the Slaughtered Moon…”

Design I did for #kaijune2021 that I took a bit further, with some lore inspired by the image.
